Named for the former Sumner Field Homes, the first federally subsidized homes in Minnesota, Sumner-Glenwood is a small north Minneapolis community undergoing a transformation into a "new urbanist" community. Called Heritage Park, the new development has a mix of single-family homes, townhomes, and condos for both renters and owners. Although Sumner-Glenwood is extremely close to downtown Minneapolis, it does not contain the number of restaurants and local shops that one would expect, although developers are hoping more investment to occur in the coming years.
