In 1892, this northeast Minneapolis neighborhood named itself “Columbia Park” in commemoration of the 400th anniversary of Christopher Columbus’s voyage to America. Columbia Park’s early decades were occupied by industrial and railroad usage, but it quickly transformed into a residential haven by the 1950s and 1960s.
