In 1892, this northeast Minneapolis neighborhood named itself “Columbia Park” in commemoration of the 400th anniversary of Christopher Columbus’s voyage to America. Columbia Park’s early decades were occupied by industrial and railroad usage, but it quickly transformed into a residential haven by the 1950s and 1960s. Today the neighborhood has quick access to downtown Minneapolis but enjoys a quiet distance from the urban bustle. Columbia Park boasts a large amount of parkland, including the Columbia Golf Club. The majority of housing is comprised of mid-century ramblers and Cape Cod homes although some older Colonials and Tudors are also found in the area.
